BEULAVILLE — Duplin County Fire and Emergency Management officials are urging the public to avoid the area of South Williams Road between NC 24 Highway and Blizzardtown Road in Beulaville. This request is to ensure that responders can work safely and investigate a house fire that tragically resulted in two fatalities.
The Duplin County 911 Center received a report of a residential structure fire on South Williams Road, near NC 24 Highway, in Beulaville, at 5:26 a.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
According to county officials, upon arrival, fire suppression teams found a brick home engulfed in heavy flames and showing significant structural damage.
Authorities shared that while conducting fire suppression activities and searching the structure, responders discovered two deceased individuals inside the residence.
According to the report, the Incident Commander promptly requested representatives from the Duplin County Fire Marshal’s Office to come to the scene for an investigation. The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office and the Duplin County Fire Marshal’s Office also requested assistance from the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal to help with the investigation.
Details about the victims or the cause of the fire have not been released yet due to the ongoing investigation.
The first responding units included the Sarecta Fire Department, Beulaville Fire Department, Kenansville Fire Department, Potters Hill Fire Department, Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, and Duplin County EMS.
